Trauma units (TU) have a vital role in the initial resuscitation of major trauma patients according to TEMPO. They may also be involved in the ongoing care, specialist trauma areas and rehabilitation.

Local Emergency Hospitals (LEH)

Major trauma patients will not be triaged by pre-hospital providers to local emergency hospitals (LEH). These hospitals will continue to receive non-major trauma patients and may have a role in other areas of the major trauma pathway such as rehabilitation.
